ncluding the Twentieth Century Gallery in Williamsburg, Va., sponsored by the Virginia Museum of Art in November 1996, and the National Institutes of Health Gallery in Washington, D. C. in 1998.
Howard has won numerous awards including a Best in Show awarded by the governor of Maryland. Howard’s paintings have garnered media attention as well. His work was favorably reviewed by the Washington Post, Annapolis Capitol, And the Montgomery County Journal.
Additionally, two of Howards paintings were selected for publication in a three- page spread in a National trade magazine. In 2001 Howard entered the Pastel Journal magazines nationwide competition. His painting was selected as one of the top 100 finalists among 2500 entries. The painting was published in the March/April 2002 edition. Additionally, his painting was selected to be used in the International Artist magazines book on How to Paint Landscapes that was published worldwide in August 2004.
Howard studied commercial art in the School of Art and Design in New York and worked in an advertising agency before joining the Air Force. He studied fine art easel painting in a community college in Maryland. His mediums of choice are pastels and oils. He considers his style to be painterly realism.
In September 1997, he moved to Lake Worth Florida where he maintained his studio. He was then juried into the Boca Raton Art Museum Artist Guild in its professional artist category.. While residing in Maryland he taught private students in his studio. Until he left Florida he taught pastel and oil /acrylic painting under the auspices of the Lake Worth Art League and the city of Lake Worth. In May 2005 Howard moved to Chandler Arizona, where he continues to teach and paint. He now belongs to the East Valley Art Guild as well as a juried member of the Arizona Art Alliance.
